What is a Tarot Birth Card?
A tarot birth card is a Major Arcana card that corresponds to your birthdate through numerology. By reducing the digits of your birth month, day, and year to a number between 1 and 22, we arrive at one of the 22 Major Arcana archetypes β each representing a universal theme of the human journey.
Unlike your sun sign or a daily card pull, your birth card is fixed β it's considered the "soul card" of your numerological profile, reflecting your core nature, the lessons you came here to work with, and the gifts you naturally carry. Many tarot practitioners use birth cards as a starting point for deep self-inquiry and yearly readings.
How the calculation works
We add together all the individual digits in your birth month, day, and year. For example, someone born on March 15, 1990 would add 0+3+1+5+1+9+9+0 = 28, then 2+8 = 10 β giving them the Wheel of Fortune as their birth card. If the total lands at 19, they receive a rare triple birth card: The Sun, The Wheel of Fortune, and The Magician.
Birth cards and personal growth
Tarot birth cards are most powerful when used as a framework for self-reflection rather than fixed fate. Your birth card points to themes you'll return to throughout your life β the questions your soul keeps asking, the strengths that come naturally, and the edges where growth is calling. Many people find that their birth card describes them more accurately than their horoscope.
